MPES is a Manx owned and operated company that specialises in examination based teaching and training for professionals working within the accountancy and other professional fields.

Our Teaching Team


Eddy Kewin - BA (Hons), FCCA, FCIM

Eddy is our Managing Director and Chairman and primarily teaches Management Accounting and Financial Management.

He has been on the Isle of Man for over 25 years, returning to his family’s roots after graduating with an Accounting & Finance degree and started his teaching career in 2000 with BPP, before setting up MPES.

Eddy became the youngest President of the ACCA District Society and keeps a keen interest in the local and international organisations, having represented the UK on the ACCA’s International Assembly.

Having several years’ industry experience allows Eddy to address real business problems in the classroom. His philosophy is that every delegate should gain knowledge that can be applied in the work place on a regular basis.  You can reach Eddy on

Peter Brumby – FCCA

Peter joined the MPES team in 2004.

His professional tuition focuses on the audit based and corporate governance papers.

A former student representative on the island’s ACCA committee, he has a wide range of business experience including retail and financial services. His experience includes exposure to, and involvement with plc and FTSE100 companies in the UK, as well as large multinational organisations outside the UK and Manx based regulators.  You can reach Peter on


Gayani Fernando – MBA, BBus

Gayani has been lecturing in Business Management subjects for over seven years to both undergraduate and post graduate business students in London (LBIC, Brunel University). This follows a 20 year career in the Financial Services sector specialising in pension funds, retail banking products and investment trusts, across Australia, the Pacific, Singapore and the US.

She holds a Bachelor of Business degree and a Masters in Business Administration both from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT).  Gayani is also currently a doctoral researcher with the Faculty of Management & Law at the University of Bradford where she is undertaking her PhD in Social Innovation and the Circular Economy.   


Michelle Meakin – FCCA, CAT

Michelle commenced her professional studies with MPES when she was 18 years old, with the CAT qualification.  After obtaining CAT, she then moved on to ACCA and qualified soon after.  She obtained both qualifications in just over 4 years.

Michelle has been lecturing at MPES for 3 years.  As she is only young, Michelle is able to directly  relate to her students and give them the guidance, support and the technical skills they require to pass their exams, first time.

Michelle’s day job is that of a Finance Manager.  She is actively involved with a PLC and FTSE 100 Company and her job involves the preparation of statutory accounts, management accounts, as well as sorting out the treasury function and overseeing investments.

Michelle’s work ethic and technical knowledge is second to none and her student feedback and their amazing exam results, confirm what an excellent tutor she is!


Alan Lewin – BSc Econ, FCA

Alan has worked for various companies including Kaplan Financial and BPP in the UK as well as being a founder visiting tutor at MPES. He also has examination experience with CIMA where he was chief examiner for 10 years and more recently ACCA where he was Audit and Assurance examiner for 5 years.

Alan now focuses on tutoring the advanced level papers such as case study at ICAEW and CIMA in preparing students for the completion of their accountancy studies.

He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1982 with Touche Ross (now Deloitte) in Leicester. Alan left accountancy practice in 1985 to start a career in lecturing and then consultancy. He initially worked for Chart Tutors (now Kaplan) running one of their examination centres, then moved back to Deloitte’s audit training department and then in 1996 established his own training company.


Clive Wilcox - ACA, CPA

Clive has lectured on a number of ACCA courses, including as an Associate Professor at the International College of the Cayman Islands.

He has a wide range of practical experience in public practice in London, Jamaica and New York, as well as spending time in industry, commerce, and the public sector.

Richard Poole - BSc (Hons), FCCA


Richard has worked for various companies including Kaplan Financial and BPP in the UK.  He also has examination experience with ACCA where he marked the ACCA F7 paper for several years (and in more recent times the ACCA P7 paper too).

Richard has taught all Tax and FR type papers for ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA and AAT from foundation level through to the advanced level. He qualified ACCA in 2004, whilst working for Tenon (Formally BDO) in the East Midlands, and then went on to work for PwC East Midlands and Gatwick.

Richard left accountancy practice in 2005 to start a career in lecturing. He worked for Kaplan for 8 years, running the Milton Keynes and East Midlands divisions, had a year in industry with Johnson Diversey (Part of Unilever) and then established his own company which focuses on training and other client and consultancy work.


Steve Salt - BA (Hons), ACA

Steve graduated from Exeter University in 2002 with a 2:1 BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance then moved to London where he worked in audit and trained as a chartered accountant.

Once qualified, Steve worked as a tutor at Kaplan Financial in London, primarily teaching tax, financial management and strategic business management papers for ACA.

Steve also has experience teaching ACCA, AAT and ATT papers and has been involved in various product creation roles. This experience allows Steve to pitch learning material at the required level to his target audience ensuring the learning experience is as beneficial as possible to the participants.

Steve’s tuition style aims to blend both the importance of understanding theoretical concepts with the relevance of practical application.


Jodie Lucas - ACA


Jodie always knew she was destined to be an accountant and after earning the opportunity of a 4 year ICAEW training contract, qualified as ACA at the age of 22.

After leaving audit practice in 2000, Jodie worked for Kaplan Financial for 16 years as an integral part of their Birmingham tutoring team - teaching ICAEW, ACCA and CIMA studies. She left Kaplan in search of some up-to-date practical experience to reinforce and complement her classroom delivery.

Jodie established her own company soon after and has built a portfolio of varied clients, dividing her time and energy between her continued passion for freelance lecturing for a number of providers in the UK and Dubai; and contract audit and advisory work for Deloitte.

She is enthusiastic and driven to help students to understand, apply and retain their technical knowledge gained from her subjects, not only to enable students to pass exams but to become better prepared in the work place.

She has also been involved with the ACCA for a number of years as a former examiner for a financial accounting paper, marker and currently as a writer.

Her subjects are auditing and anything to do with financial accounting and corporate reporting and loves to draw a T account given any opportunity!


Jazz Williamson – ACCA

Jazz qualified as a chartered certified accountant with MPES in 2015 after 3 years of study.  Jazz has worked as an accountant on the Isle of Man for the last 5 years and has experience within the property development industry.

Jazz is currently an Analyst and Associate Portfolio Manager for an Isle of Man based Real Estate development company.  You can reach Jazz on

Anthony Uzum - FCCA, CFA


Anthony has worked for various companies including Kaplan Financial, BPP in the UK and Global Training Cyprus.

He has taught ICAEW MI, FM, SBM and Case Study as well as FM and FR courses in ACCA, CIMA and AAT. 

He qualified ACCA in 2007 as a full time student and began working at Kaplan Financial, Reading until 2014. He also completed the CFA program and became a member in 2012. 

Anthony has been a marker for various institutes and a registered ACCA/ Oxford Brookes Mentor. 

Anthony moved to Lagos, Nigeria in 2014 in search of some practical experience, splitting his time between freelance lecturing for a number of providers in the UK, Cyprus, Greece, Malaysia, Mauritius; and a director for a logistics company in Lagos. 

Heather Blackley BSc, DipM, FCIM - CIM Marketing Programmes

Heather runs all of the marketing initiatives here at the MPES offices.  

Around 15 years or so ago Heather was getting more and more involved in advising clients on marketing strategies and tactics, as well as lecturing in marketing, so she founded The Marketing Partnership and launched the CIM programmes here on the Isle of Man, initially via the International Business School. Over the last 15 years or so, Heather has taught around 500 people here on the Isle of Man, which hopefully means that many organisations are improving their own marketing and in turn benefiting the Isle of Man.

Heather also runs subsidised small business marketing workshops for small organisations, the vast majority of whom are still successfully in business and many of whom have very little or no budget. Heather maintains "it’s about being smart with the budget and tracking the results".

Having recently launched the Marketing Apprenticeship Scheme for the Isle of Man, Heather is very proud to have created a viable choice for people deciding to stay on the Island for their Marketing careers. In her spare time, Heather also likes to be involved in volunteer working, such as Governor at Hospice Isle of Man.


Our Support Team

Sheila Magee Dip, RSA, MIoD


Sheila is our Office Manager and is responsible for the smooth running of the MPES office. She is extremely organised and customer focused and deals with all manner of enquiries from the Isle of Man and overseas.

Sheila is generally your first port of call, should you ever need anything!  You can reach Sheila on

Sheila was educated in Yorkshire, before coming to the Isle of Man in 1983, after travelling and working in Europe.  She then went on to gain additional qualifications at the Kate Quilliam Study Centre and the IOM College.

Sheila has gained vast experience and knowledge in administration. She is highly self motivated and enjoys learning new subjects and meeting challenges in the field of finance and customer relations.

Sheila is also devout Burnley football fan and enjoys nothing better than supporting her team.

Julia Karran


Julia assists Sheila with the smooth running of the office.  Julia is heavily involved with Project 21 here on the Island and enjoys keeping up to date with the latest fashion trends and going to the theatre and cinema, with her friends and family.



Leanne Sharman


Leanne is our receptionist and senior office administrator and also assists (and deputises for) Sheila with the smooth running of the office.  Leanne deals with attendance, results etc and will ensure that your homework and mock exams are looked after, passed on to the tutors and marked.  You can reach Leanne on


Mariana Mendes


Mariana is one of our office administrators and works closely with Sarah, Sheila and Leanne to ensure that the MPES students are well looked after.  Mariana primarily deals with the upkeep of MyMPES, so if you have a MyMPES related query, please do not hesitate to contact her directly.  You can reach Mariana on

Sarah Kewin – FCCA, MIoD


Sarah helps Eddy deal with all aspects of running the business (statutory requirements, accounts, tax, marketing and new product development etc). She also heads up the MPES apprenticeship programme.

Sarah has over 25 years experience in our local Financial Sector and has fulfilled the majority of roles, within the modern office environment, during her career.

Sarah studied at MPES and qualified as ACCA.  She has a vast amount of real life work experience, which she brings to her role to help with the smooth running of the firm and aid business growth, and also within the classroom to help explain business issues in simple terms, to youngsters.  You can reach Sarah on
